Prologue

02/02/2014:

Starting point:

Research Laboratory in Cambridge. Everything began right there, a stormy night, allowing quiet burglaries to places with low security. A three-man band of pseudo animal defenders crept into the building and got to a closely guarded laboratory. Despite the warnings, they released the sick chimpanzees that had attacked, injured and infected them without the slightest resistance. With what? Aggression. Fucking aggression, lust for murder, blood. They did not want to eat you. They just wanted to kill.

15 days later:
Mainland Britain is quarantined.
It was impossible to control it, the infected, they got out of the room, the building, the fence and the city. It started with riots, but from the beginning it was known that it was something extraordinary. It was everywhere... In villages, small towns, the capital. It was happening on the streets, breaking through the windows. It was a virus. Infection. Deadly pestilence. The disease was spreading in the blink of an eye, consuming thousands of victims. You did not need a doctor to know that. You saw it. You were scared of it, you were screaming and running away. It's blood... Something was in the blood. Infected people were running around the streets, waiting for their victims. They were not sentimental, and the healthy could not remain sentimental. You had to kill - to survive. You had to shoot... To your friends, siblings, father, mother, wife, husband.
Before the cities were evacuated, it had been too late. The plague took over London. Military blockades have been defeated. Then the exodus began. Before TV disappeared, news about infections in Paris and New York was announced. Then you heard nothing. What about the government? There is always a government. In a bunker or on a plane... So it really is not there, neither the police nor the army. It does not exist anymore. There is no television, radio or electricity. There is nothing.

28 days later:
Mainland Britain has been destroyed by the rage virus.
All of England died, and a few, healthy civilians hid on the top floors of their blocks in their — or not — flats, watching as the food or water supply ends, announcing to them a different end. Hope has disappeared. Faith in a better tomorrow, in the rescue, in existing people. You could not go anywhere alone, otherwise you were already dead. You only moved during the day; the night was your enemy. You had to master the highest level of survival so as not to choke on your own blood.
Was there any help? Yes. There was a place... The radio signal was emitted on one of the frequencies. Salvation exists. We have an answer to the infection. If you hear it, you are not alone. They are others. There are other survivors. We are soldiers and we are armed. We are at the forty-second blockade on M602, forty-four kilometers north-east of Manchester. You must find us. Salvation exi... The content breaks off so that it can be attributed from the beginning. People listened to it like mantras, trying to make a decision. Has anyone managed to get there? Nobody knows... It is certain that this unit existed, hiding in an old, abandoned prison. A dozen of soldiers fought, extending their lives for precious days. But they also fell.

5 weeks later:
The infected have died of starvation.
A ghost town full of dry bodies that had nothing to eat. What did this mean? In England, there was not a single, living man left. There was no one and nothing. Only the smell of death.

11 weeks later:
An American-led NATO force enters London.
The process of cleansing England continued after the arrival of troops and medical units. Finding bodies, burning them, destroying them. Epidemiologists roamed the streets of the city in the company of armed soldiers, finding the remnants of the possibilities for the return of the plague. They came across infected and suicidal people. They were terrified of what had happened there. An image of an unimaginable doom that no one till now has ever imagined.

18 weeks later:
Mainland Britain is declared free of infection.
Everything that created the threat was eliminated.

24 weeks later:
Reconstruction begins.
London has been divided into special zones. Temporary walls are erected, tightly separating the places that serve the repopulation of the country. The first district is considered as possible to resident by civilians.

28 weeks later…
